A Placecheck held in 2006 in Woughton, Milton Keynes, grappled with the issue that, while the area was at relatively low density and might be appropriate for further development, the residents would need to be sure that such development would be in their best interests – making the provision of new facilities possible, for example. All the housing was much the same, with people from similar socio-economic backgrounds, and the shopping centre reflected that. Bleak, little-used areas of garages were one of the opportunities that were identified.
